The present indicative forms of the verbs andare, dare, fare, and stare are irregular.

*The verb Stare is used to express temporary states and location.
Example:
Come stai? Io sto bene/ sto male/ sto così così.
Dove stai quando vai in Italia? Io sto dai miei (genitori). Where do you stay when you go to Italy? I stay with my folks.
Stasera sto male e sto a casa. Tonight I’m not feeling well and I ‘m staying at home.
**The verb Fare is used for creating, performing, or producing things.
Examples:
io faccio una torta – to bake a cake
io faccio un errore – to make a mistake
The verb Fare is also used in general questions to ask what people are up to. The question can be answered with any verb or with a fixed expression with fare.
Example: Che cosa fai nel fine settimana? Nel fine settimana ascolto la musica, guardo un film e poi faccio una passeggiata.
***The verb andare is used to express movement toward a place. While verbs like camminare (to walk), correre (to run) guidare (to drive), viaggiare (to travel) describe the specific manner of movement, andare is the standard verb used to indicate a destination.
Examples:
- Io vado in Italia in aereo VS Io viaggio spesso in aereo
- Loro vanno in università a piedi VS Loro camminano tutti i giorni.
- Marta va in auto a New York VS Marta guida l’auto di Paolo.
- Noi andiamo al parco e facciamo una corsa. VS Voi correte per un’ora.
