G6.3 – Il passato prossimo con i pronomi diretti

G6.3 – Il passato prossimo con i pronomi diretti

When the direct object pronouns lo, la, li, le precede a verb at the Present Perfect (Passato Prossimo), the past participle (Participio Passato) has to agree in gender and number with the object.

Please note that lo and la elide to become l’ before all forms of AVERE. The pronouns li and le never elide.

Esempio:

Marta ieri ha comprato una torta e poi l‘ha mangiata. –> Yesterday, Marta bought a cake and then she ate it.

Voi avete preso i biglietti e li avete regalati a Giulio. –> You bought the tickets for the concert and then you gifted them to Giulio.

Adverbs of time with direct pronouns in the past.

When expressing actions happened in the past, we can add adverbs of time to better express if the action has already taken place or not.

As shown in the sentences below all adverbs goes between the auxiliary and the past participle.

mai = ever / never

When using mai in the question it means ever. When mai is used in the answer or affirmative sentence you must use it always in the negative form adding NON

Esempio:

Hai mai mangiato la pizza con la Nutella? –> Have you ever eaten Nutella?

No, non  l’ho mai mangiata.  –> No, I have never eaten it.

già = already

ancora = yet

Esempio:

Hai già comprato i biglietti per il concerto? –> Have you already bought the tickets to the concert?

  • No, non li ho ancora comprati.  –> No, I haven’t bought them yet.
  • Sì, li ho già comprati.  –> Yes, I have already bought them.
