L’imperativo con i pronomi

When using pronouns for the forms tu, noi and voi, attach them at the end of the imperative. For irregular tu forms that have two forms, choose the form with one syllable and double the consonant of the pronoun.

For the form Lei, instead, the pronoun precedes the imperative:

• • • Porta le pillole -> Portale!
    • Fai/Fa’ la visita-> Falla!
    • Vai dal medico -> Vacci!
    • Chiamate il dottore -> Chiamatelo!
    • Mangiamo un’insalata -> Mangiamola!
    • Ecco i consigli del dottore. Li segua attentamente!

For the negative form of the imperativo, for the persons noi and voi and Lei, put non in front of the imperative form (and pronouns!).

• Non chiamatelo!
• Non mangiamola!
• Non li segua attentamente!

For tu, add non before the infinitive of the verb and tack the pronouns on the by removing final -e. You can also put the pronoun before in this case.

• Non portarle!
• Non le portare.

NB: La collocazione dei pronomi doppi segue le stesse regole! 

Es: Dai gli occhiali a Mario! -> Daglieli! 

Scrivete una ricetta per la paziente! –> Scrivetegliela! 

Non portare il pranzo a Marta! –> Non portarglielo! Non glielo portare!
