Meanwhile, Matija discovers just how different things can be in the U.S. So come along to Tolstojeva Street! Matija: Ja još nisam bila kod tebe? Reci mi, što imaš u stanu? Ti živiš u dvosobnom stanu, zar ne?
James: Da, živim u dvosobnom stanu. Moj cimer i ja.
Matija: A odakle je on?
James: Marko je iz Francuske.
Matija: Znam da tvoj cimer nije baš uredan. No, kakav je stan? Što imate?
James: Imamo kuhinju, dnevnu sobu, ostavu i balkon. Stan nije velik, ali dovoljan je za nas.
Matija: A gdje u centru živiš?
James: Živim u Tolstojevoj ulici.
Matija: Pa ti si stvarno u centru. U kojoj zgradi živiš?
James: Živim u crvenoj, niskoj zgradi. Zgrada nema lift, ali to nije problem.
Matija: Je li stan renoviran?
James: Da, stan je renoviran prošle godine.

Matija: Reci mi što imate u stanu?
James: Dnevna soba je svijetla i velika. To je moja omiljena prostorija u stanu. U dnevnoj sobi imamo veliki kauč, stolić za kavu, komodu, ogledalo, policu za knjige, veliki šareni tepih, dvije lampe i dvije fotelje. Televizor je na zidu. Imamo i zavjese na prozoru, a slike su također na zidu. Super je što se stanovi u Hrvatskoj iznajmljuju namješteni.
Matija: Istina, stanovi su uglavnom namješteni.
James: To nije slučaj u Americi.
Matija: A kakva je kuhinja?
James: Kuhinja nije velika, ali dovoljna za nas. Imamo hladnjak, pećnicu, ali, nažalost, nemamo perilicu za posuđe.
Matija: Da, neki stanovi nemaju perilicu za posuđe. Nije kao u Americi. A kakav je balkon?
James: Balkon je baš malen, ali dovoljan za jutarnju kavu na balkonu.
Matija: Kakva je kupaonica?
James: Kupaonica je nova i jako je lijepa. Sviđa mi se. Matija, imam pitanje.
Matija: Da?
James: Je li običaj da je perilica rublja uvijek u kupaonici?
Matija: Da, perilica je uvijek u kupaonici. Nije kao u Americi.
James: Zanimljivo. A nemate ni sušilicu?
Matija: Točno, ljudi obično suše odjeću na balkonu.

Look at the map to see where James and Matija live. Are they close to each other or not? James živi u Tolstojevoj, a Matija živi u Viškoj ulici.

Look at the picture of James’ balcony. Then answer the questions. Compare your answer/proposal with another classmate to see how similar you are in terms of decorating a space.
