Noun RAME

In this lesson, you encountered the neuter noun rame (shoulder). This noun, along with a few others (ime, prezime, pleme, vrijeme), undergo a change in their base form when declined in different cases.

In the plural, the letter -N- appears in all case forms. In the singular, most cases also follow this declension rule, except for the nominative, accusative, and vocative, which keep their base form. See the chart below for a complete case breakdown.

Nouns RUKA and NOGA

The noun ruka is a feminine noun that means both “hand” and “arm,” depending on context. Like most feminine nouns ending in -a, it follows the typical declension pattern but has an important phonetic change in the Dative and Locative singular. Instead of ruki, the correct form is ruci because k changes to c before i (k + i = ci). Another key feature of ruka is its genitive plural, where two forms are possible: rukā and ruku.

The noun noga follows the same pattern. In Dative and Locative singular, instead of nogi, the correct form is nozi because g changes to z before i (g + i = zi). Just like ruka, noga has two genitive plural forms: nogā and nogu.
