Nouns IME and PREZIME
In this lesson, you encountered neuter nouns such as ime and prezime. These nouns, along with a few others, undergo a change in their base form when declined in different cases.
- IME: (singular) Moje ime je Marko. → (plural) Oba moja imena su hrvatskog porijekla.
- PREZIME: (singular) Moje prezime je talijansko. → (plural) Dva najčešća prezimena u Hrvatskoj su Horvat i Kovačević.
In the plural, the letter -n- appears before the case ending in all cases. In the singular, most cases also follow this rule, except for the nominative, accusative, and vocative, which keep their base form. See the chart below for a complete case breakdown.
