Feminine -ost nouns
Look at some examples below.
All of the above nouns end in –ost. All these nouns belong to a specific group of nouns that take feminine gender (even though they end in a consonant). These nouns have specific endings that are not like the ones you learned when we first talked about feminine gender. Pay special attention to the Instrumental case. All –ost nouns will follow this pattern.
1️⃣ Nominative
- Bit ću pilot. To je moja budućnost. [I will be a pilot. That’s my future.]
2️⃣ Accusative
- Gledam budućnost i radujem se novim stvarima. [I’m looking at the future and can’t wait for new things to happen.]
3️⃣ Dative
- Radujem se budućnosti. [I’m looking forward to (my) future.]
4️⃣ Locative
- Pričamo o budućnosti. [We are talking about the future.]
5️⃣ Genitive
- Ako se nastavi globalno zatoljenje nema dobre budućnosti. [If global warming continues, there is no bright future.]
6️⃣ Instrumental
- S budućnosti / budućnošću dolazi i odgovornost. [With the future comes responsibility as well.]
The noun KORIST
The noun korist (benefit/purpose) is also a feminine noun. This means that it will follow the rules of other feminine nouns ending in a consonant (such as the above nouns ending in –ost).
Look at the noun in different cases:
1️⃣ Nominative
- Koja je korist TikToka? [What is the purpose of TikTok?]
2️⃣ Accusative
- Volim korist koju pruža online kupovina. [I like the benefit that online shopping provides.]
3️⃣ Dative
- Divim se koristi moderne tehnologije. [I admire the benefit of modern technology.]
4️⃣ Locative
- On uvijek raspravlja o koristi društvenih mreža. [He is always arguing about what is the benefit of social media.]
5️⃣ Genitive
- Ja sam siguran da nema koristi od društvenih mreža. [I am sure there is no benefit of social media.]
6️⃣ Instrumental
- S koristi / korišću umjetne inteligencije dolaze i novi problemi. [With the benefit (use) of AI new problems arise.]

Each sentence begins with a targeted noun. Read the whole sentence carefully and complete the second part using the same noun, but in the form required by the sentence (case changes!). Pay attention to endings.

Write the correct noun in each blank. Pay attention to the meaning of the sentence and use the noun in the correct grammatical form. Some nouns may be used more than once.
