Nouns: K, G, H > C, Z, S
Masculine nouns
You already know that when plural masculine nouns with three or more syllables ends in –k (maslinik), –g (šoping), or –h (orah), the final consonant changes to –c (maslinici), –z (šopinzi), or –s (orasi) in the nominative plural form. This change occurs because the consonant is followed immediately by –i ending for masculine plural. The rules are as follows:
- k + i = ci → maslinik / maslinici
- g + i = zi → šoping / šopinzi
- h + i = si → orah / orasi
As discussed last year, this rule also applies to other cases where -k-, -g-, or -h- is followed by -i. Refer to the declension pattern below for further clarification.
| Case | maslinik | šoping | orah |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nominative | maslinici | šopinzi | orasi |
