3 – Les vacances
Carl Blyth
Grammaire: 3.5 – Les verbes irréguliers en -ir (partir, sortir, and dormir)
Irregular -ir verbs (to leave, to go out, to sleep)
The verbs partir, sortir, and dormir are useful verbs to talk about leisurely time and vacation.
All three verbs are irregular in the present tense, that is, they are not conjugated like regular -ir verbs which will will learn in chapter 5.
Listen carefully to the pronunciation of these verbs, noting especially the pronunciation of the consonant sound in the plural forms.
→ Can you hear the difference between the singular and the plural forms in the third person?
→ What spelling/conjugation patterns can you discern for all three verbs?
