1. Preparation

In this vocabulary list, you will learn common leisurely activities.

  • Use the verb “aller” to indicate where you are going.
  • While the verb “faire” used by itself means “to do/to make”, use the verb “faire” with the name of a sport/activity to indicate that physical activity.
    • These are called idiomatic expressions: their meaning does not literally correspond with the words in the expression.
    • There are many idiomatic expressions in English (it’s raining cats and dogs, break the ice, cry over spilled milk, call it a day, etc.).

Attention! Pay close attention to the prepositions used in this vocabulary list (au, en, à l’, du, de la, une). Study these propositions as part of the expressions.
