5.1 Настоя́щая речь – Есть (There is …)

I am going to give you a gift right now and that is:  Есть.

And these are some reasons it’s a really great word in Russian:

• It doesn’t decline for case. YES!
• It doesn’t conjugate. AMAZING!
• It doesn’t EVER CHANGE. INCREDIBLE.

Есть is used to indicate the EXISTENCE of something, very much like when we in English say, “There is … / There are …”

Наприме́р:

	В Ри́ге есть хоро́шие рестора́ны. There are good restaurants in Riga.
	На ка́мпусе есть стадио́н и спортза́лы. There are gyms and a stadium on campus.
	В о́фисе есть кни́жный шкаф и большо́е окно́. There is a bookshelf and big window in the office.
