Recall that in Russian, speakers often use verbs of location to describe where things are lying, standing, sitting, or hanging:

лежа́ть – to lie / be lying (down)

стоя́ть – to stand / be standing

сиде́ть – to sit / be sitting (down) / be seated

висе́ть – to hang / be hanging
