Consider the following examples. You don’t need me to translate. Use context and then… Скажит́е, кака́я ра́зница ме́жду слова́ми ‘звать’ и ‘называ́ться’? They both have to do with how something is called or named, but when do you use which one?
Звать – to call / name
- Как тебя́ зову́т?
- Меня́ зову́т Хе́зер. А вас?
Называ́ться – to be called
- Как называ́ется наш университе́т, Теха́сский университе́т и́ли Университе́т Теха́са?
- Наш вели́кий университе́т называ́ется Теха́сский университе́т.
