	Где Ко́ля?	‘Where’s Kolya?’
	Он здесь.	‘He’s here.’

	Где Ли́за?	‘Where’s Liza?’
	Она́ там.	‘She’s there.’

	Где рюкза́к?	‘Where’s (my) backpack?’
	Он здесь.	‘It’s here.’

	Где туале́т?	‘Where’s the bathroom?’
	Туале́т вон там.	‘The bathroom is (way) over there.’

	Где Ма́ша?	‘Where’s Masha?’
	Она́ до́ма.	‘She’s at home.’

	Где мои́ ве́щи?	‘Where are my things?’
	Я не зна́ю.	‘I don’t know.’

You know now that Где? means ‘Where (is/are)’? In all of the examples, the answers are very simple. Some only have a one word answer, others have a few words, including:

Recall, there is no present tense form of the verb ‘to be’, meaning that Где Иван? translates into English as Where is Ivan?

*Note the words вот and вон often act as intensifiers for здесь and там, respectively, but they can be heard on their own and in other contexts with slightly different meanings.
