Люби́мая Грамма́тика
Negation (no, not) in Russian is fairly straightforward, but it warrants a few comments. The first comment is that the word for NO in Russian is НЕТ and the word for NOT is НЕ. As English speakers, just be sure not to confuse the two. Below are some examples.
Нет = No | |
Не = Not |
Например:
Э́то пи́цца? | Is this pizza?
Да, э́то пи́цца. | Yes, this is pizza.
Э́то соба́ка? | Is this a dog?
Нет, э́то не соба́ка, a ко́шка. | No, this is not a dog. It is a cat. |
Она́ ру́сская? | Is she Russian?
Да, ру́сская. | Yes, (she is) Russian. |
Они́ студе́нты? | Are they undergrads?
Нет, не студе́нты, а аспира́нты. | No, they’re not undergrads, but graduate students. |
