Directions:

• Look at the following images. Read and listen to the accompanying Russian text and audio. Practice repeating what you hear. LISTEN and try to IMITATE what you hear!
• A translation for the first set is given here. Try to translate the remaining sets to yourself.
• Note the use of the pronouns in the answers. The gender of the pronoun is determined by the gender of the noun it refers to and not whether the noun is a person or a thing, as is the case in English.

	Это вода́? ‘Is this (the) water?’
	Да, э́то она́. ‘Yes, this is it (she).’

	Э́то А́нна?
	Да, э́то она́.

	Э́то брат?
	Да, э́то он.

	Э́то магази́н?
	Да, э́то он.

	Э́то соба́ка?
	Да, э́то она́.

	Э́то ко́фе?
	Да, э́то он*.   *Recall that кофе is a masculine, and not neuter, noun.

	Э́то су́мка?
	Да, э́то она́.

	Да, э́то она́.
