7.1 – Grammar: Come here or COME HITHER

Люби́мая Грамма́тика

The notion of куда́? vs. где? is NOT unique to Russian at all. In fact, older versions of English used it and you can sometimes still see it. Have you heard anyone say, “Come hither!” It’s not just an old way of saying ‘here’. It’s the way English used to express the notion of ‘to here’. Russian still uses this distinction between location ‘here’ and motion ‘to here.’
