Listen and read along to the following examples of past tense sentences in Russian. Refer to the translations on the right if needed. Past tense verbs are highlighted.
| Я никогда́ не была́ в Ме́ксике. | I’ve never been to Mexico. | |
| Я жила и учи́лась в Росси́и. | I lived and studied in Russia. | |
| Я была́ в Москве́ и в Петербу́рге. | I was in Moscow and St. Petersburg. | |
| Я рабо́тала в Томске. | I worked in Tomsk. | |
| Когда́ я была́ в Росси́и, я говори́ла и-по ру́сски и по-англи́йски. | When I was in Russia, I spoke Russian and English. | |
| Муж жил в Че́хии. Он там жил и учи́лся. Он был и в Росси́и но недо́лго. | My husband was in the Czech Republic. He lived there and studied. He was in Russia but not for very long. | |
| Роди́тели живу́т в Росси́и. Они́ не бы́ли в Аме́рике , но бы́ли в Ме́ксике. Они́ там отдыха́ли. Когда́ они́ бы́ли в Ме́ксике они́ не говори́ли по-испа́нски. | My parents live in Russian. They have not been to America, but they have been to Mexico. They relaxed there. When the were in Mexico they didn’t speak Spanish. | |
