5.1 Language and Speech – Есть (There is …)
I am going to give you a gift right now and that is: Есть.
Есть very simply translates into English as “There is/are….”.
What about it makes iт something you’d like to have in your Russian repertoire? Well, how about this:
- It doesn’t decline for case.
- It doesn’t conjugate.
- It doesn’t EVER CHANGE.
- It’s just есть and we use it to indicate the EXISTENCE of something, very much like when we in English say, “There is … / There are …”
